First and foremost, I have been in the bar business for over 25 years. I have worked in just about every type of establishment there is. I worked in, booked and promoted live music venues for almost twenty years. I have worked in high end hotel and rooftop bars, sports bars, dive bars, corporate restaurants and managed a couple different breweries. I am a beer and spirits enthusiast!! My life has revolved around the bar scene since before I was old enough to legally partake. I have helped run cocktail clubs, created numerous events in the bar scenes and even created and ran websites for national brands.
However, all that alone isn’t necessarily the reason you should listen to anything I have to say. My main reason for starting this blog is to help anyone feel like a regular or someone that is in the business, no matter where they decide to imbibe!! I have traveled a lot, both in business and just for leisure, and no matter where I go, I can drink like a local. Whether it’s the spot I pick after some online research, or just a place I happened to drop in because it looked like the right spot, I can always find a place that treats you like you belong.
Being in the business or just being a local can have some great perks, if you know how to act accordingly. It can get you bigger pours, free drinks or if nothing else, you get some great conversations that can lead to the best local advice or a long-term friendship, even if it’s just online!!
My goal with the stories I will lay out here is to entertain first and foremost, but also help you have a great time while out and about, no matter where you have landed!! I’m going to tell you about my experiences, new places I find that excite me, the history of certain cocktails, why things are the way they are and most of all, how you can be a local!!
